I’m back from Texas. I was so exhausted last night I could hardly stay awake driving home from Cindy’s house. I even rolled the window down and turned on Toby Mac’s Portable Sounds CD. It worked! Finally called it quits and headed to bed and slept great. Ever been so tired, so spent, you felt like you left it all on the field and you could walk off with your head held high? I felt like that last night. It’s a good tired.

The ACC Men’s Retreat went great. The food was incredible. On Friday some of us went to the Burger Shack in Groveton. I think they have the best burgers in the area. And the onion rings? Trust me, get the half order! Friday night we had steaks. They were HUGE and cooked just right. I was going to get a picture of one of them, but I was so full after I had finished eating I would’ve had to roll to my backpack to get my camera and roll back. Then I wasn’t sure if I could have got up to take the picture. So, alas, I just sat there and savored the moment.

For me, some of my favorite times was the hanging out times we did as we shared life – talking, laughing, or playing cards or dominoes. You can’t beat those times. It’s in those times that you learn to life together. You hear about each others hurts and struggles, fears, and life journeys. But you also get to hear about the funny things, the memorable things, the kinds of things that make life worth living. It’s those kinds of times I think guys miss the most. We don’t do it enough. Wish we did. We could. We just have to make the effort.

By the end of the weekend I knew God was doing and is doing a great work in and among those men. It was so cool to watch God work as we ate together, played together, rested together, and learned together.
After a weekend like that I told them I felt like an associate member of their church.

I have to admit that’s there’s nothing like living life with a group of guys. This is why my passion is to help change the hearts of men. Hanging out with a bunch of guys – some I didn’t even know – hearing their stories, laughing with them, praying with them, learning and growing with them. I couldn’t imaging doing anything else.

Thanks to the guys at ACC! A big thanks to Jay who coordinated everything!
